If you're an Admin on an ether.fi business account, you can connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another supported AI assistant to view your business transactions, cards, and balances and answer questions about your spending.
AI connections are currently available in the ether.fi web app.
If you have a personal account, see How do I connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI assistant to my personal account?
Who can connect an AI assistant to a business account?
Only team members with the Admin role can connect an AI assistant to a business account.
Business account Owners must also have the Admin role to create a connection.

Where is our money going? | Spending by category and merchant over 7, 30, or 90 days | Transactions |
What subscriptions are we paying for? | Recurring charges, estimated annual costs, and upcoming renewals | Transactions |
Are there any unusual charges? | Possible duplicate transactions, first-time merchants, pending charges, and the cards used | Transactions and cards |
How much did we spend on a business trip? | Spending by currency and category | Transactions |
You can also ask your assistant what reports or summaries it can create using your ether.fi business account data.
What information can an AI assistant access?
When connecting an AI assistant, you choose which business account information it can access.
All permissions are turned off by default.
Permission | Information the assistant can access |
Your transactions and merchants | Business card purchases, top-ups, withdrawals, borrows, repayments, liquidations, cashback, merchant names, amounts, currencies, dates, categories, transaction statuses, and card last four digits |
Your cards | Business card nicknames, physical or virtual card type, status, currency, and last four digits |
Your balances, holdings and vault address | Available balance, credit limit, borrowed amount, total balance, vault assets, asset values, yield, vault address, and supported networks and assets |
Each connection provides access to one account only.
Can an AI assistant move business funds or access full card details?
No. AI connections are read-only.
Connected assistants cannot:
Spend, send, or withdraw business funds.
Borrow or repay funds.
Change cards, spending limits, or account settings.
Access full card numbers, CVCs, or expiry dates.
The assistant can only read the information you authorize.
Which AI assistants can I connect?
You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI assistant that supports adding a connector through a URL.
During connection, the approval screen displays the assistant's name.
Claude and ChatGPT are marked Verified.
Always confirm that the assistant's name matches the application you're connecting.
How do I connect an AI assistant to my business account?
Sign in to the ether.fi web app:
Go to Settings → AI connections.
Select Copy next to the connector URL:
If you've already connected an assistant, select Connect another assistant first.
Open your AI assistant's settings and locate the option to add a connector, app, or plugin using a URL.
Paste the connector URL and begin the connection.
When redirected to ether.fi, sign in if prompted.
Review the MCP Terms of Use and select Agree and Continue.
Under Select permissions, enable the information you want the assistant to access.
Select Approve and confirm using your passkey.
Once approved, you'll see Finishing up… before returning to your AI assistant.
You can then begin asking questions about your business account.
Important: You have 10 minutes to complete the approval process. If the request expires, restart the connection from your AI assistant.
Why do I need a passkey to connect an AI assistant?
A passkey is required to confirm that you're authorizing the connection.
Every connection must be approved through an ether.fi authorization screen.
If you haven't created a passkey, you'll see A passkey is required.
To set one up:
Select Set up a passkey.
Go to Security and privacy.
Complete the passkey setup.
Return to your AI assistant and restart the connection process.
For more information, see:
Can I connect more than one AI assistant?
Yes. You can connect multiple AI assistants, including Claude and ChatGPT, to the same business account.
Each assistant has its own connection and permissions.
If you connect the same assistant again, the new connection replaces the previous one. Other assistants remain connected.
Can one AI connection access both my business and personal accounts?
No. Each AI connection can access only one ether.fi account.
Permissions are managed separately for each connection.
Can other Admins view or disconnect my AI connections?
No. Each Admin can only view and manage the AI connections they created.
Your connections appear on your AI connections page, not on another Admin's page.
If another Admin connects an assistant, they manage that connection separately.
How long does an AI connection remain active?
Each AI connection remains active for 90 days from the date you approve it.
Using the connection does not extend its expiration date.
Starting seven days before expiration, the AI connections page displays Expires in and the number of days remaining.
Once expired, the connection displays Access expired.
To continue using the assistant, reconnect it and approve access again using your passkey.
Note: You will not receive an email or notification before the connection expires.
Where can I view my connected AI assistants?
Sign in to the ether.fi web app.
Go to Settings → AI connections
Review your connections.
Each connection displays:
Information | Description |
Reads from | The business account the assistant can access |
Permissions | The information you've authorized it to read |
Connected | The date you approved the connection |
Last used | The most recent time the assistant accessed the account, updated at most every 15 minutes |
Expires | The date the connection will expire |
Select a connection to view its individual permissions, marked Granted or Not granted.
How do I disconnect an AI assistant?
You can disconnect an AI assistant at any time.
Sign in to the ether.fi web app - https://www.ether.fi/app/cash/sign-in
Go to Settings → AI connections.
Find the assistant you want to disconnect.
Select Disconnect.
Select Disconnect again to confirm.
The assistant's access is revoked immediately, and its next request will no longer be authorized.
To reconnect later, add the connector again through your AI assistant and approve it using your passkey.
What happens to my AI connections if I'm removed from the business account?
If you're removed from the business account, your AI connections are automatically disconnected.
If the business account is locked, all associated AI connections are disconnected.
If the account is closed, connected assistants can no longer access its information.
What happens to business information after connecting an AI assistant?
When you approve a connection, the selected business account information is shared with the AI assistant's provider.
For example:
Claude is provided by Anthropic.
ChatGPT is provided by OpenAI.
The information may become part of your conversations with the assistant.
How that information is stored, retained, or used depends on the provider's terms, your subscription plan, and your privacy settings.
Depending on those settings, the provider may retain information in conversation history or memory, or use it for model training.
Disconnecting an assistant prevents future access to your ether.fi business account but does not automatically delete information previously shared with the provider.
Review your assistant's privacy and data settings before connecting.
What happens if I share my business vault address?
If you enable Your balances, holdings and vault address, the assistant can access your business vault address.
Your vault address is a public, permanent identifier. Anyone who has it can view associated on-chain activity, including after you disconnect the assistant.
How can I keep my business account secure when using AI assistants?
Follow these precautions when connecting an AI assistant:
Recommendation | Why it matters |
Only approve connections you initiated | Authorization takes place through ether.fi and requires your passkey |
Verify the assistant's name | Confirm that it matches the application you're connecting |
Secure your AI assistant account | Use a strong password and two-step verification |
Be careful with shared or company-managed AI accounts | Other users, including workspace administrators, may be able to access your conversations |
Review other connected tools | Content from websites, emails, or files may contain instructions that cause an assistant to disclose information |
Avoid sharing sensitive conversations | Shared chats may contain business account information |
Disconnect suspicious connections immediately | This prevents further authorized access to your ether.fi data |
Important: ether.fi will never ask for your passkey, recovery phrase, full card number, or CVC through an AI assistant or any other channel.
If you believe your business account information has been exposed, contact Support through live chat.
Can I rely on the totals and calculations provided by my AI assistant?
AI assistants can generate summaries and calculations using your business account data, but their results may not always be accurate.
Any totals, reports, or calculations are generated by the assistant and are not independently calculated or verified by ether.fi.
Always check important information directly in your ether.fi account before relying on it.
If an assistant provides a crypto deposit address, verify it in Add Funds → Crypto, including the correct token and network, before sending funds.
