JPY funding with JPYC and local bank payouts

A step-by-step web guide to available funding methods, recipient details, quotes and transfer status.

Use only the methods offered in your account. Availability depends on your region, verification and account eligibility. The instructions below describe the website; wording may differ by language. They do not describe native-app tabs.

How to add funds

  1. Open the bank funding page and select Japanese yen (JPY).

  2. Choose JPYC if offered. If there is only one method, the method chooser may be skipped. Complete any verification, onboarding or terms shown.

  3. Continue into the payment session that opens. Enter or confirm the amount only as instructed there, and check the displayed payment currency, funds you will receive, fees and any limits before proceeding.

  4. Follow the current session’s payment instructions exactly. Use only the recipient or payment details shown there; do not reuse details from an earlier session. If funding from a bank, use an account in your own name.

  5. Keep the payment confirmation and return to ether.fi to check the transaction status and your balance. A payment being submitted is not confirmation that funds have been credited.

JPYC is a token-payment funding option, not a generic domestic JPY bank wire. Follow the session for the required token, network and payment details; do not infer a network or send yen to bank details from a different route. A local JPY bank payout is a separate operation.

How to send to a bank account

Local JPY bank payouts are in beta and available only to eligible beta accounts. If JPY or the local-transfer option is absent, do not use JPYC funding as a substitute.

  1. Open Send on the website. Select New Recipient to open Add Recipient.

  2. Choose JPY under Fiat currencies (Search currencies can help), then Local transfer if a method chooser appears.

  3. Under Details, enter a Nickname and the required recipient information listed below. Confirm preselected values, including account type, rather than accepting an incorrect default. Select “This is my own account” only when true; this is not a guarantee that every other recipient is eligible.

  4. Select Continue, review the recipient details, then Save Recipient. Choose the saved recipient and complete Start Verification if prompted. Account or route restrictions can prevent continuing.

  5. On the amount screen, select Pay with and enter an amount. Check which currency the amount field uses: it may refer to what you pay or what the recipient receives. Review the destination amount, Exchange rate, Fee and arrival estimate, then select Review.

  6. In Confirm Payment, check Recipient Details and Transfer Details again. Add a memo only if supported and a Purpose Code only if required by the quote. When satisfied, select Sign & Send.

  7. Open History to check the current status. Submitted or initiated does not mean the bank has received the funds.

Recipient information

  • Nickname

  • Full Name

  • Account Type (Individual or Business)

  • Financial Institution

  • Beneficiary Branch Code

  • Account Number

  • Nationality Country

  • Street Address

  • City

  • Postal Code

  • Country

  • State

Use the recipient’s actual bank details. Account Type distinguishes an individual from a business. Country and State concern the recipient address; available region choices depend on the country and may be preselected. Do not construct a routing or branch code from an example.

Fees, amounts and timing

Deposit fees and conversion details come from the live payment checkout, not a fixed fee table in this guide. For payouts, use the current quote; deposit fees do not apply to outgoing transfers. Check the currency of each amount and any displayed limits before confirming. Arrival and processing estimates are not guarantees; verification or additional-information review can delay a transfer.

Illustrative walkthrough

Suppose your goal is to fund an amount equivalent to 10000 JPY. Select JPY → JPYC and follow the session’s token and amount instructions; do not assume that typing 10000 means sending 10000 tokens. If an eligible beta account wants a bank recipient to receive 10000 JPY, use the separate Send → JPY → Local transfer route and check the quote’s destination amount. No exchange rate or token conversion is assumed.

Frequently asked questions and troubleshooting

If a transfer shows Action Required, open it in Transaction History and select Provide details. Answer the displayed questions, upload requested documents and submit the response there. If a deadline is shown, submit before it expires. This status does not automatically mean rejection, and responding does not guarantee approval or immediate completion.

If you cannot open a session, a method is missing or a transfer is delayed, contact support through ether.fi. Include the transfer reference and relevant payment confirmation privately; do not post full bank details publicly. Check the existing status before paying again. Cancellation, reversal or refund is not guaranteed.
